ROAD TRIP ADVENTURES – BUSY IN BISBEE, ARIZONA

Day 18, May 20, 2018

       Take It Easy
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy.
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy.
Well I'm standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
And such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
Slowin down to take a look at me.

I love girls trips!  We are not in Winslow, but the song still  fits.  We have dozens of small towns in Arizona that are unique, historical and just plain fun to visit.  This is my first visit to Bisbee, AZ.

Bisbee welcome

A quick stop for lunch and then a walk around town.

Bisbee day 1 lunch

Bisbee is an old mining town. Founded in 1880, it was mined for copper, gold and silver.  Bisbee’s population dwindled with the closing of the mine in 1975 but has been revived and has new life as an artists community with galleries and shops and lots of history.  It is quaint and charming with restaurants and plenty of night spots.

On our walk about town we found an alleyway filled with an odd but engaging collection of art.

Bisbee Art Wall

Lucky to be here on a Saturday night, we caught live music at the Copper Queen Hotel Saloon, while sitting on the patio enjoying the weather.  Earlier in the evening  we happened on a street festival/block party/fundraiser with entertainment, art for auction and a lot of locals.  We rounded out the evening on the private patio at our hotel.   It was a fun and interesting day.
