WE ARE ALL IN

DAY 11, MAY 12 DELAY

       Poker Face
I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas plays
Fold 'em, let 'em, hit me, raise it baby stay with me (I love it)
Love Game intuition play the cards with spades to start
And after he's been hooked I'll play the one that's on his heart

Twelve years ago, my friend May taught a group of us to play Texas Hold ‘em and we started a monthly game with 9 players.  Over the years a few players have come and a few originals have gone but the core group is still intact.  While we don’t play every month anymore, we still enjoy a game a few times a year.  Last night we celebrated “an original.”  Allen, who thought he was coming to play a game of poker with the usual suspects, got lots more.  More folks showed up to play (20) and we had a three table tournament in honor of his birthday.   Since the weather was delightful, we played outside.  I set up a 20X10 shade tent sans the shade itself so we could string lights and have air flow.  Worked out great providing light until midnight when the game ended with Spyro the victor!

We had a houseful and didn’t get around to taking pictures, too busy enjoying the moment, but here is one of the birthday boy.  This is when it dawned on him that we were celebrating him!

Allen's surprise

I love this game!  I prefer casino games over home games but it’s nice to hang out with friends and the home games give us an excuse to get together.  The host(s) feed the group, we eat and then settle in for the game.  Over the break we had birthday cake.

Remember:  We cannot change the cards we are dealt, only how we play them.
